State Electric Company (STELCO) has signed a MoU with the Military Welfare Company (SIFCO) to provide comprehensive training for its workforce.

The MoU was signed by STELCO Managing Director Hussain Fahmy and SIFCO Managing Director Colonel Ahmed Zubair at a ceremony held on Tuesday.

Under the MoU, STELCO staff will receive training across several key areas, including leadership enhancement, basic first aid, fire awareness, industrial fire brigade operations, security officer skills, swimming and rescue techniques, and life coaching.

The partnership also encompasses technical support for maintaining power station fire suppression systems and assistance with fire evacuation drills.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Fahmy highlighted the success of previous training initiatives conducted with the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).

"We have already seen tangible improvements in workplace performance from staff who completed earlier programmes," he said. "These training programmes will benefit both their professional development and their ability to serve the community."

STELCO aims to train its entire workforce through these programmes within the year. The company noted that 668 employees have already completed the Leadership Enhancement Programme conducted in collaboration with MNDF.

The new MoU marks a significant step in STELCO's commitment to workforce development and safety standards across its operations.
