Tourist arrivals in the Maldives have reached 303,447 so far this year, marking an 8.7 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2024

The Maldives welcomed two million tourists in 2024 and has set an ambitious target of 2.3 million visitors for 2025, with efforts already underway to boost arrivals throughout the year.

As of February 11, 88,584 tourists have arrived in the Maldives, with a daily average of 8,053 visitors. The highest single-day arrival was recorded on February 1, with 9,495 tourists entering the country.

Resorts continue to be the primary choice for tourists, receiving 210,591 visitors. Guesthouses followed with 77,650 tourists, while hotels hosted 8,077 visitors. Safari vessels accommodated 6,982 tourists, and other accommodation categories recorded 147 arrivals.

In terms of market share, China leads as the top source market with 50,979 arrivals, followed by Russia with 28,977, the United Kingdom with 27,917, and Italy with 27,901 tourists. While the top three markets remain unchanged from last year, Germany ranked fourth in 2024, whereas Italy has now taken that position.

To sustain growth and meet its annual target, the Ministry of Tourism and the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) have ramped up promotional efforts for 2025. MMPRC has announced special activities aimed at attracting more visitors, particularly during the off-peak tourism season.
