The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts has officially launched the Youth Wellness Lounge, a modernised initiative designed to enhance youth health services.
The lounge, a rebranded version of the former Youth Health Café, promises improved services and a more engaging environment for young people seeking support.
Operating every Sunday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Social Centre, the Youth Wellness Lounge provides a range of essential health services focusing on both physical and mental well-being. Young people can access services by walking in during opening hours or booking an appointment by calling 4000505.
The initiative offers individual health screenings, one-on-one consultations, personalised health education sessions, small group discussions, and awareness and outreach programmes. All consultations are conducted by professionals selected from a ministry-approved list, ensuring high-quality care. These services aim to empower youth with the knowledge and resources necessary for a healthier lifestyle.
First introduced in 2003 as the Youth Health Café, the initiative faced challenges and was discontinued in 2021; however, under the current Administration, the Ministry has resumed operations, expanding the programme with new services tailored to the needs of young people.
In addition to the wellness lounge, the Ministry’s health and well-being section is providing free mental health counselling, further strengthening support for young individuals. The rebranding reflects a commitment to providing a more dynamic and youth-friendly space, ensuring better accessibility and higher-quality services.
This initiative underscores the government’s dedication to prioritising youth welfare and promoting a healthier, more informed generation. The Ministry encourages young people to utilise the lounge as a safe and supportive environment to discuss and address their health concerns.
