The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) reported nearly USD 95 million in tourism sector earnings for January 2025, an 11 per cent increase from the previous year, with tourism-related taxes contributing 76 per cent of the total USD 125 million revenue. Tourism Goods and Services Tax (TGST) rose by 13 per cent to USD 69.1 million, while green tax, airport development fees, and departure tax also saw significant increases. However, revenue from land rent for tourism businesses declined by 14 per cent to USD 4.2 million.
