Water and sewerage installation completed in Faresmaathodaa

The water and sewerage system installation in Gaafu Dhaalu Faresmaathodaa has been successfully completed.
The project, which commenced in 2023, was carried out under the Exim Bank of India's line of credit.
According to the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, the newly installed system includes two 90-tonne reverse osmosis (RO) plants and two 625-tonne drinking water storage tanks. Additionally, a 10-kilometre sewerage network, a 13-kilometre water network, three pumping stations, and 25-kilowatt solar panels have been installed to ensure a sustainable and efficient supply of water and sanitation services.
The Ministry stated that preparations are underway to handover operations to Fenaka Corporation, with services currently being provided on a trial basis until February 26, 2025.
At the Ahaa Ministerial Forum on Saturday, Tourism and Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim announced that the Government aims to establish water and sewerage services on all islands within the next two years.
Additionally, the Minister stated that the Government is actively assessing islands where water and sewerage infrastructure is required, considering population changes and development needs. A comprehensive plan is being formulated to ensure the continued expansion of these essential services to all necessary islands.
