Maldives records 358,999 tourist arrivals, 7% increase from last year

The Maldives has welcomed 358,999 tourists so far this year, reflecting a 7 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2024.
According to the latest Ministry of Tourism statistics, from February 1 to February 18, the country recorded 144,316 tourist arrivals, with the highest single-day arrival recorded on February 16, when 9,518 tourists entered the Maldives. The daily average arrival rate stands at 7,327 tourists.
Resorts remain the most popular accommodation choice, hosting 247,548 tourists so far. Guesthouses recorded 92,868 visitors, while hotels welcomed 9,663 tourists. Meanwhile, safari vessels accommodated 8,664 visitors, with an additional 255 tourists staying in other facilities.
In terms of market share, China continues to lead with 15.2 per cent of total arrivals, followed by Russia with 9.9 per cent, the United Kingdom with 9.7 per cent, Italy with 9 per cent, and Germany with 6 per cent. This ranking remains unchanged from last year, with the exception of Italy surpassing Germany, which was previously in fourth place.
As of February 18, 2025, the total bed capacity in the Maldives stands at 61,840, with an operational capacity of 61,047 beds across 172 resorts, 15 hotels, 796 guesthouses, and 155 safari vessels.
Having recently marked 53 years since the arrival of its first tourist, the Maldives is setting its sights on a new milestone and is targeting 2.3 million tourist arrivals by the end of 2025.
