Four arrested in connection with drug smuggling attempt to Hanimaadhoo

Four individuals have been arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle drugs into Hanimaadhoo by air, according to police authorities.

The arrests were made during a joint operation conducted by Kulhudhuffushi City Police, Hanimaadhoo Police, and intelligence units. Law enforcement officials acted based on information received from counter-narcotics intelligence, leading to the apprehension of the suspects. Authorities reported that the seized drugs had a tentative weight of 13.85 grams.

The suspects have been identified as Fathimath Shaaha Hassan, 20, from Noonu Velidhoo/Morningson; Hussain Shavin, 22, from Kaafu Guraidhoo/Nalava; Mohamed Rilwan Abdul Sattar, 22, from Seenu Feydhoo/Raiyvillagel; and Arsham Ali Waheed, 28, from Dhaalu Kudahuvadhoo/Maahil.

Following their arrest, the Hanimaadhoo Magistrate’s Court ruled that all four individuals should remain in custody for 30 days while further investigations are carried out.

Authorities have confirmed that an inquiry into the case remains ongoing.
