Maldivian swimmer Meral Ayn Latheef has set two new national records in individual medley events at international competitions in the United Kingdom.

At the Devon County Championships, Meral broke the national record in the women’s long course 200m individual medley with a time of 2:45.93, surpassing the previous record of 2:49.55 set by Amna Thazkiyah Mirsaad at the National and Junior National Long Course Swimming Championships in Sri Lanka last year.

Meral also set a new national record in the women’s short course 400m individual medley at the Welsh Capital Open Meet, clocking 5:49.59. The previous record of 6:26.56 was held by Ein Abbas Shareef, who set the mark at the 2022 Thailand Short Course Swimming Championships.
