As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, Anara Naeem, Islamic scholar and the current MP for the Huraa Constituency, has urged individuals to engage in self-reflection and preparation to make the most of this sacred time.
She highlighted the importance of planning ahead to maintain good deeds throughout the month. Her remarks were made during a Maahefun organised by the PNC at Artificial Beach last night, an event attended by a large number of people. Addressing the gathering, Anara stressed the significance of mental and spiritual preparation, encouraging Muslims to consider how they would uphold their faith and engage in righteous acts during Ramadan.
She emphasised that it was essential to maximise good deeds during the month by incorporating more traditions, performing Sunnah prayers, and engaging in acts of kindness as part of daily worship.
Anara also spoke about the spiritual benefits of Ramadan, describing it as a time of immense forgiveness and spiritual elevation. She noted that the holy month offered an opportunity for individuals to atone for both the sins they were aware of and those they were not. She added that fasting and devotion during late-night prayers contributed to a higher spiritual level.
Discussing one of the most significant aspects of Ramadan, she pointed out the importance of Laylat-ul-Qadr, the Night of Decree. She explained that worship performed on this night held the value of a thousand months of devotion, making Ramadan an especially blessed time for Muslims.
Reflecting on the transient nature of life, Anara reminded the audience of the Islamic belief that the worldly life was temporary, while the hereafter was eternal. She stated that Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala had bestowed a great blessing upon the Ummah by multiplying rewards during Ramadan. She further mentioned that both the Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet affirmed that no other month offered the same level of spiritual rewards
She explained that the purpose of organising Maahefun gatherings during Sha'ban is to strengthen bonds and foster friendships, highlighting that this tradition has long been cherished by families, friends, and communities in the Maldives.
The gathering saw a large turnout, with attendees coming together to prepare for the spiritual significance of the upcoming month.
