President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has conveyed his felicitations to His Majesty Naruhito, Emperor of Japan, His Excellency Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, the Government, and the people of Japan on the occasion of Japan’s National Day.

In official messages addressed to Emperor Naruhito and Prime Minister Ishiba, President Dr Muizzu spoke of the longstanding diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Japan, founded on mutual respect, trust, and shared values.

He had expressed his appreciation for Japan’s sustained contributions to the development of the Maldives across multiple sectors and reaffirmed his Administration’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation.

The President further extended his best wishes for the health and wellbeing of Emperor Naruhito and Prime Minister Ishiba, as well as for the continued prosperity of the Japanese people.

Japan’s National Day is observed annually on February 23 to mark the birthday of the reigning Emperor. The occasion is commemorated with official ceremonies and celebrations across the country.
