President's visit key to fulfilling community aspirations: Kudahuvadhoo Council

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s recent visit to Kudahuvadhoo has been described by the island’s council as a significant step towards fulfilling long-standing aspirations of the local community.
The remarks were made during a meeting held with the President, members of the Kudahuvadhoo Council, the Women's Development Committee, and representatives from various institutions on the island.
The visit marks the President’s third trip to Kudahuvadhoo during his current term, demonstrating a continued engagement with the region’s development. The Kudahuvadhoo Council expressed its support for the President’s policies and emphasised the importance of ensuring that projects initiated during the visit progress without interruption. Among the key concerns raised were the need for an industrial area, the establishment of a fish factory, and addressing the ongoing issue of erosion affecting the island.
During discussions, members of the Women's Development Committee conveyed their appreciation for the Government’s efforts in advancing women's development in Kudahuvadhoo. They acknowledged the initiatives being undertaken and highlighted the importance of continued support for women’s empowerment in the region.
The President assured attendees that the concerns raised by the council would be reviewed and reiterated his commitment to delivering on promises made to areas designated as urban centres. He also underlined the Administration’s broader vision for development in the region.
Government ministers present at the meeting provided updates on various development projects currently underway in Kudahuvadhoo, reflecting ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and services on the island.
Prior to the meeting, the President attended the commencement ceremony of a new hospital to be constructed in Kudahuvadhoo, a key infrastructure project aimed at enhancing healthcare facilities for the local population. Additionally, he announced the completion of a newly constructed branch of the Bank of Maldives and participated in the groundbreaking ceremony of another major development project on the island.
