The Government is set to announce the permanent list of 4,000 flats planned by the previous administration in Hulhumale' by the end of this week, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has confirmed.

Speaking at a meeting with the people of Dhaalu Kudahuvadhoo, the President reiterated that delivering housing projects remains a top priority of his administration.

In his address, President Dr Muizzu reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling his presidential pledges, reflecting on his Presidential Address during which he stated the flat recipients list will be published before Ramadan. In this regard, the President assured the public that the 4,000 recipients list will be announced based on what ACC has highlighted as well.

The President also assured the public that the previous government’s initiative to provide land in Gulhifalhu, Hulhumale' Phase 3, and Giraavarufalhu would proceed as planned. He emphasised that the Government is prioritising the resolution of issues related to these land allocations, ensuring that rightful beneficiaries receive their plots without unnecessary delays.

At the close of the previous administration’s tenure, a final list of flat beneficiaries was released. However, following complaints and an investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), it was revealed that only 20 per cent of those listed met the eligibility criteria. The findings have necessitated a comprehensive review of the list, which the current Government is now addressing.

With the revised list expected to be published soon, the Administration aims to ensure fairness and transparency in the allocation process, reaffirming its commitment to resolving housing challenges in the Maldives.
