President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has indicated that children's parks, outdoor gyms, and fitness centres are to be established across all Maldivian islands within the next two years.

During his ongoing tour of inhabited islands in Dhaalu Atoll, the President assured Maaen'boodhoo residents that the island's football ground development would proceed expeditiously with comprehensive facilities.

Highlighting the previous administration's approach of contracting different aspects of football ground construction to various companies, he outlined his Government's alternative strategy to import sports ground equipment in bulk for all islands, implementing the most cost-effective and efficient method.

The President announced plans to import all necessary equipment – including fencing, lights, and other requirements for football grounds, futsal courts, and netball courts across all islands using the most cost-effective approach.

A two-year initiative has been outlined to establish fully equipped fitness and recreation centres across all islands, construct new children's parks where needed, upgrade existing parks with additional facilities, and install outdoor gyms throughout this year and the next.

Additionally, the President assured that all projects initiated but stalled by the previous administration would resume within the coming two months, including the halted projects in Maaen'boodhoo.
