The State Electric Company (STELCO) has announced the installation of an additional generator on ADh. Dhangethi, as part of their ongoing efforts to ensure a stable power supply during the holy month of Ramzan.

In a statement, STELCO confirmed that a 400 kW generator has been successfully installed, commissioned, and is now operational. The company emphasised that this upgrade is part of its strategy to meet the increasing electricity demand, particularly during Ramdan.

STELCO highlighted that power consumption is expected to rise significantly during the month of Ramadan, as it coincides with the northeast monsoon and school holidays. To accommodate this surge, the company is actively working to enhance its power generation capacity across the Maldives.

In addition to the improvements in Dhangethi, STELCO has revealed plans to add 13 new generator sets to the Malé region, some of which have already arrived in the capital. Once fully installed, these generators will increase power generation capacity by approximately 20 MW.

The company reassured the public that efforts are also underway to provide additional generator sets to other atolls, ensuring an uninterrupted electricity supply throughout Ramadan.
