President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has outlined a series of development initiatives for Dhaalu Rin'budhoo during his recent visit to Dhaalu Atoll.

Meeting with island residents, the President addressed improvements across multiple sectors including religious facilities, education, healthcare, housing, transportation and cultural preservation, with several projects set to commence within the year.

The President confirmed plans to build a new mosque by July as part of the 2025 National Budget, noting that the island's only mosque has been in use since 1992 without additional religious facilities being developed.

He also addressed space limitations at the island's school, with plans to finalise preparations within two months for construction to begin by May. The expansion will add six classrooms, a computer laboratory, and a library to improve the learning environment.

Healthcare facilities were another key topic, with the President pledging to address overcrowding at the local health centre. Plans to upgrade medical services, expand space, and increase staffing will be implemented within the year.

The President also acknowledged housing challenges, recognising that some relocated residents still lack adequate solutions. He committed to sending a technical team to work with the local council towards resolving housing issues for both current and relocated residents.

Further developments include integrating Rin'budhoo into the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) ferry network within the year, significantly improving connectivity. The President also outlined initiatives to enhance sporting facilities for youth.

Recognising Rin'budhoo's heritage in jewellery craftsmanship, the President emphasised preserving this traditional industry nationally. He announced plans for training programmes accredited by the Maldives Qualifications Authority (MQA) to ensure the craft continues to thrive and gain wider recognition.
