A temporary parking facility has been established in Hulhumalé Phase 1 to address increased parking demand and traffic congestion in the Greater Malé Region during Ramadan.
The facility, located near Masjid Al-Walidain, was inaugurated by Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Mohamed Ameen, with Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan and Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau.
At the event, Minister Ameen highlighted how illegal parking and abandoned vehicles contribute to congestion in Malé and Hulhumalé. He noted Government efforts to tackle this issue, including recent police operations to clear obstructed public spaces.
Minister Ihusaan acknowledged that while not a permanent solution, the facility will provide short-term relief for Hulhumalé residents and visitors.
Police Commissioner Ali Shujau confirmed law enforcement would focus on managing traffic and ensuring safety during Ramadan, adding that the temporary parking would reduce congestion as people travel between islands for prayers and Ramadan activities.
