ACC President Uz Adam Shamil --
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of the Maldives has reaffirmed its commitment to investigating corruption cases impartially, stating that no individual, regardless of their influence or position, will be exempt from scrutiny.
In a statement, the commission clarified that it has the legal authority to pursue corruption allegations.
The ACC also referenced Article 202 of the Constitution and Sections 21 and 22 of the ACC Act, which collectively empower the commission to carry out its duties within the framework of the criminal justice system. These legal provisions reinforce the ACC’s autonomy in handling corruption-related cases.
The statement comes amid an ongoing investigation by the commission into three Supreme Court Judges that have been suspended by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) following allegations against them.
