Australia launches SARIC training to enhance building code standards

The Australian Government has commenced a training programme on building code standards through the South Asia Regional Infrastructure Connectivity (SARIC) initiative. 

The sessions, which began on Wednesday, are aimed at enhancing the technical knowledge of personnel from the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, along with representatives from other Government agencies.

The training is being conducted in multiple phases, with the initial segment taking place online. Practical sessions are set to follow and will continue until Thursday. The programme is being delivered by Associate Professor at the School of Built Environment, University of Technology Sydney, Saeed Baniha Shemi and Adjunct Professor Raymond Loveridge.

Several key officials attended the training, including Australia’s Deputy High Commissioner, Andrew Hodges, and Ishara Davey, who serves as Assistant Director in the South and Central Asia Development Section of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Representing the host country, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, Mohamed Imran Hassan, was also in attendance. Additionally, Felix Anton, Operations and Procurement Lead at SARIC TNS Palladium India, participated in the sessions.
