Recipients of 4,000 flats in Hulhumalé under the previous government's Gedhoruveriya housing scheme have been announced, with a month-long window for complaints beginning March 1.

Speaking at a press conference held at the President's Office today, the Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure of Maldives, Dr Abdulla Muththalib, announced that the Ministry has completed verification of the recipient list initially published by the former Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure

Officials verified applicants based on two criteria: continuous 15-year residency in Malé and accuracy of submitted application information.

The public comment period runs from March 1-31, 2025. Applicants can submit complaints through the ‘Gedhoruverin Portal,’ while concerns about listed recipients can be emailed to [email protected] or sent by letter to the Ministry. For additional information, the Ministry can be reached at 4004911 or 4004910.

The Ministry plans to proceed with flat handovers to qualified recipients who received the required points. Additional compliance checks with Gedhoruveriya scheme allocation policies will be conducted before finalising handovers.

For individuals on the list who do not meet criteria or lack sufficient points, the Ministry confirmed their designated flats will not be reallocated until all complaints submitted by March 31, 2025, have been reviewed and resolved.
