Foreign Minister Dr Abdulla Khaleel hosted a Maahefun event for resident diplomatic missions in the Maldives, offering diplomats an opportunity to experience Maldivian cultural traditions ahead of Ramadan of February 27, 2025. 

Organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the gathering aimed to introduce diplomats to Maahefun, a traditional pre-Ramadan event where communities come together to share meals in celebration. The event featured a variety of authentic Maldivian dishes, highlighting the country's culinary heritage.

The Foreign Ministry stated that the initiative was part of broader efforts to strengthen diplomatic ties and promote cultural exchange between the Maldives and foreign missions.

In addition to the event in Malé, Maldivian embassies abroad have also hosted Maahefun gatherings, engaging with international communities and Maldivian expatriates. Similar events were recently held by the Maldivian High Commission in the United Kingdom and the Embassy in Thailand, incorporating cultural elements to showcase Maldivian traditions.
