The Government has announced the schedule for the distribution of tuna fish cases to households in Male’, Hulhumale’, and Villimale’ during the holy month of Ramadan.

In an official statement, the Ministry of Cities, Local Government and Public Works confirmed that tuna fish cases will be distributed from February 28 to March 2. The distribution will take place between 09:30 pm and 11:30 pm at previously designated locations. The Ministry has clarified that no distributions will take place on March 1.

Initially, beginning on February 20, the Government established five distribution points for tuna fish cases as part of its initiative to provide Ramadan gifts to households; however, in response to public concerns regarding long waiting times and crowding, the Government has expanded the initiative by increasing the number of distribution sites.

The programme will now be facilitated through 13 designated locations, ensuring that all eligible households receive their allocated tuna fish cases. The process will remain in operation until distribution is complete.

To enhance efficiency, the Government has introduced an online platform, the ‘Ramadan Gift Portal’, which will enable households in the Male’ area to obtain distribution tokens. Additionally, users can schedule a convenient collection time through the portal as well.

The following locations have been designated for tuna fish case distribution, with token allocations as follows:

  1. MIFCO Main Building – 200 tokens
  2. MTCC Sawmill building – 200 tokens
  3. Henveiru Dhandu – 100 tokens
  4. Galolhu Dhandu (Setup 1) – 50 tokens
  5. Galolhu Dhandu (Setup 2) – 50 tokens
  6. Galolhu Dhandu (Setup 3) – 50 tokens
  7. Galolhu Dhandu (Setup 4) – 50 tokens
  8. Social Centre – 100 tokens
  9. Villimale’, WAMCO site – 100 tokens
  10. Hulhumale’, Umar Zahir Building – 100 tokens
  11. Hulhumale’ Polco Tower (Block C) – 100 tokens
  12. Hulhumale’ Hiyaa Tower 10 – 100 tokens
  13. Hulhumale’, Kaamil Didi Primary School – 100 tokens

The Government acknowledges that some individuals may face difficulties accessing the online portal. To accommodate such cases, staff members will be available at the designated distribution centres to provide assistance to those unable to obtain their tokens online.

To collect a tuna fish case, individuals must present the following documents:

  • A valid identification card
  • A recent electricity bill (one-month statement)
