Heena Waleed, Chief Spokesperson at the President’s Office, has stated that heavy monsoon rains are expected to affect a significant portion of the country over the next three days.

On a post on X, she added that Government institutions are actively working to minimise potential damages and provide necessary relief to citizens.

In light of the monsoon rains, preparations are also underway ahead of the first day of Ramadan to ensure that arrangements are in place to assist the public and ease any disruptions caused by the weather.

Meanwhile, the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has reported flooding in several streets across Malé due to the ongoing downpour. The Maldives Fire and Rescue Service is currently carrying out flood response operations in four locations within the capital.

Authorities urge residents to remain cautious and take necessary precautions as they continue to monitor the situation and provide updates.
