The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Coastguard has provided assistance to a speedboat carrying a significant number of passengers after it began taking on water near KaafuThilafushi.

According to MNDF, the vessel Souvenir 34 sustained damage, resulting in water ingress.

At the time of the incident, the vessel was carrying 38 individuals, including 24 passengers and four crew members.

MNDF confirmed that, with the support of the Male’ Area Command’s Coastguard Second Squadron, the speedboat was safely transported to Thilafushi at 2:00 p.m. No injuries were reported in the incident.
