Fenaka Corporation has announced discounts on utility bills during Ramadan, following a directive from President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. The reductions in water and electricity charges will be applied using four specific methods.

The corporation will calculate discounts based on the difference between Ramadan consumption and customers' average bills from previous months, excluding February, March, and April of last year, which were identified as the warmest months.

Fenaka outlined a four-tier discount system for utility bills during Ramadan. Firstly, discounts will be calculated based on the difference between Ramadan consumption and the average bills from nine months of the previous year, excluding February, March, and April.

Secondly, Fenaka has guaranteed a minimum 10 per cent discount for all customers. If the calculated difference between the Ramadan bill and the nine-month average is less than 10 per cent, the discount will be adjusted to meet this threshold.

Thirdly, customers whose Ramadan consumption is lower than their historical average will still receive the full 10 per cent discount, ensuring they benefit even if their usage decreases.

Finally, new customers connecting to water and electricity services during Ramadan will automatically qualify for the 10 per cent discount on their first bills, regardless of having no prior usage for comparison.

Fenaka stated that this transparent discount structure allows customers to estimate their utility costs in advance, offering peace of mind by preventing unexpectedly high bills during the holy month. The corporation added that this approach will help customers budget more effectively for their post-Ramadan expenses.
