Supreme Court Justice Uz Husnu Al-Suood has resigned from the judiciary, submitting his resignation letter to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

Suood, who previously served as Attorney General from June 2009 to August 2010, was appointed to the Supreme Court in 2019.

His resignation comes amid an ongoing criminal investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), which later informed the JSC of the allegations. As per legal procedures, he was suspended, and the JSC subsequently launched a disciplinary inquiry into his conduct.

In addition to Suood, the JSC is investigating Supreme Court Justices Dr Azmiralda Zahir and Mahaz Ali Zahir for alleged misconduct.
