The Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) announced on March 4, the appointment of Ahmed Nasif Didi as the chairman of the Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO).

Prior to this appointment, Nasif served as the chairman of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), a role he assumed as part of the management restructuring implemented by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu following his inauguration in November 2023.

Nasif possesses experience in the management of state-owned enterprises, having held several senior positions, including managing director of both HDC and Thilafushi Corporation.

His transition to WAMCO takes place amid significant developments within HDC. In December, all board directors, including the managing director, were suspended due to allegations involving senior officials. Nasif was the sole board member unaffected by these suspensions. 

Amid these changes, Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed had resigned as managing director, stating his intention to cooperate with the ongoing investigation. In his place, former Minister of Construction Mohamed Mauroof Jameel was appointed as his successor.
