Avas Enterprises has permanently banned a taxi driver from its ride-hailing services after receiving a complaint of misconduct involving a passenger.
In a statement issued by the company, Avas reported that the incident occurred on the first night of Ramadan, during a ride from Hulhumalé to Malé. The complaint alleged that the driver spoke inappropriately to the passenger and failed to take them to their intended destination.
Following an internal investigation, which involved speaking with both parties, Avas Enterprises confirmed that the driver had violated service standards. As a result, the driver has been permanently suspended from all Avas services, including the Avas Ride App, Avas App, and Taxi Centre, effective March 2, 2025.
Additionally, the company has reported the case to the Maldives Police Service and the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation for further action.
Avas Enterprises has urged relevant authorities to take strict measures against such behaviour to maintain public confidence in the ride-hailing service.
The company also apologised for the incident and reassured customers that it remains committed to upholding service quality. Avas emphasised that firm action will be taken against any drivers engaging in misconduct.
