The Ministry of Tourism and Environment has reported a continued increase in tourist arrivals to the Maldives this year.
According to statistics released today, 451,554 tourists have visited the Maldives in 2025 so far, compared to 431,002 during the same period last year and 367,904 the year before. This represents an increase of over 20,000 visitors compared to 2024.
Chinese tourists top the list with 59,938 arrivals, constituting 13.3 per cent of total visitors. Russian tourists follow with 45,073 arrivals, accounting for 10 per cent. The daily average stands at 7,283 tourist arrivals.
The United Kingdom holds third place in visitor numbers, followed by Italy in fourth and Germany in fifth. India, France, the United States, Poland, and Switzerland complete the top ten source markets.
The upward trend follows a historic milestone last year when the Maldives welcomed more than two million tourists for the first time, closing 2024 with a total of 2,046,615 visitors.
To sustain this growth, the Government has been actively conducting promotional activities in key source markets. Special initiatives have also been scheduled throughout the year to attract tourists from various markets during different seasons.
