The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has announced an increase in the character limit for complaints submission on the Gedhoruveriya housing scheme portal, allowing applicants to provide more detailed justifications for their concerns.
Speaking to local media, State Minister Ibrahim Nazeem confirmed that more than 1,000 complaints have been submitted regarding the flat eligibility list in the past four days. He noted that the primary concern among applicants has been the limited space available on the portal to detail their complaints.
To address this, the Ministry will double the current 1,500 word limit to 3,000 words, starting from Wednesday, allowing applicants to provide more comprehensive explanations in their appeals.
The State Minister also highlighted that a key reason many applicants were deemed ineligible was the lack of proper documentation proving they had resided in Malé for 15 consecutive years.
While many individuals have requested an opportunity to resubmit supporting documents, Nazeem stated that doing so would not be the fairest approach. However, he assured that every complaint will be thoroughly reviewed, and if additional documents are required, they will be carefully examined.
The Housing Ministry clarified that the validation of the eligibility list was based on two primary factors. Applicants needed to provide proof of continuous residence in Malé for at least 15 years, and the accuracy of the information submitted in the application form was carefully reviewed.
The complaints submission process remains open from March 1 to March 31, 2025. Applicants can submit their grievances through the portal, while complaints by other individuals must be sent via email or a formal letter addressed to the Ministry.
For further inquiries regarding the complaints process, individuals can contact the Ministry at 4004911 and 4004910.
