Maldives Immigration has apprehended two additional foreign nationals as part of its ongoing efforts to identify and address cases of undocumented immigration.
The arrests took place following a raid on a garage operating in the capital yesterday afternoon, based on a report submitted through the Immigration Watch platform.
In an official statement shared via social media, Maldives Immigration reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying operations to track down undocumented immigrants. Authorities have confirmed that these raids will continue throughout Ramadan, with no plans to ease enforcement efforts.
The Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology, Maldives Immigration, and The Maldives Police Service are actively collaborating to address the challenges posed by undocumented expatriates. The Government has taken a firm stance against foreign nationals involved in illegal trade and criminal activities, vowing to deport them without further delay.
As part of broader efforts to regulate migration and ensure compliance with immigration laws, the Immigration Watch platform has received over 1,297 complaints from the public. Additionally, biometric data on more than 43,294 migrant workers has been collected to enhance monitoring and enforcement measures.
Since the launch of these initiatives, over 6,076 migrant workers have been deported, and authorities continue to conduct daily inspections of migrant workers’ residences to identify those residing in the country without valid documentation.
