Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has been contracted by Ministry of Infrastructure to build a new sewerage network in F. Nilandhoo.

The signing ceremony was attended by Minister of State for Infrastructure, Ibrahim Thoaam Mohamed, and the Managing Director of MWSC, Abdul Matheen Mohamed. Nilandhoo MP, Fathmath Sauda also participated during the signing.

On January 25th of 2023, this project which was originally assigned to Fenaka Corporation to be completed over a 180 day time span, has now been transferred to MWSC for completion. This initiative aims to establish a more efficient gravity based system to replace the island’s existing sewerage system. 

The Ministry of Infrastructure has stated that the switch to a gravity-based sewerage system could resolve many of the issues faced by the residents of Nilandhoo which may have been overlooked by the previous set up.
