The Maldives Police Service has issued a public alert for a suspect wanted in connection with a theft case under investigation.

Police said they are searching for a person involved in a case being investigated by the Hulhumalé Phase Two Police Station.

The suspect has been identified as Mohamed Thibyan Shaheen, 24, from Malé City.

Police have requested anyone with information about the suspect to contact the Hulhumalé Phase Two Police Investigations at 9393351.

The alert comes as police statistics show a decrease in reported theft cases during February. While 274 theft cases were reported to the Maldives Police Service in January, the number decreased to 196 cases in February.
