Ajwad Musthafa has been appointed as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Environment.
His appointment was formalised at a ceremony held at the Civil Service Commission (CSC) on Sunday, where he was presented with his letter of appointment by CSC President Mohamed Nasih.
The appointment follows the merger of the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment, and Energy on February 1, forming the new Ministry of Tourism and Environment.
With this restructuring, Thoriq Ibrahim, who previously served as Minister of Environment, was appointed as the Minister of Tourism and Environment. The Civil Service Commission subsequently opened applications for the Permanent Secretary position on February 3.
Ajwad previously served as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, but his position was dissolved following the ministry's abolition under new legislation.
With extensive experience in public administration, Ajwad holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the UK.
