Appointment of non-resident ambassadors to Spain and New Zealand await parliamentary review

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has formally requested Parliament’s consideration and opinion on the appointment of non-resident ambassadors to Spain and New Zealand.
His request was conveyed in an official letter, which was read out during today’s parliamentary session.
The letter outlined the President’s nominations for the two diplomatic appointments.
President Dr Muizzu proposed the designation of Dr Iruthisham Adam, the High Commissioner of Maldives to the United Kingdom, as the Maldives' non-resident ambassador to Spain.
Additionally, he sought parliamentary endorsement for the appointment of Mohamed Luwaiz, the Maldivian Ambassador to Singapore, as the Maldives' non-resident ambassador to New Zealand.
Following the submission of the President’s request, the matter has been referred to the Parliament’s Foreign Relations Committee for further deliberation.
