Mohamed Raee, former Member of Parliament for Makunudhoo constituency, has been ordered to appear before police for violating the Freedom of Peaceful Assembly Act and obstructing police duties.

Police say Raee, a prominent figure in the Maldivian Democratic Party's (MDP) ongoing demonstrations, participated in protests across various areas of Malé on the evening of March 9.

According to authorities, these demonstrations disrupted public transport and commercial activities, with Raee allegedly ignoring official instructions during the events.

He has been summoned for questioning tomorrow as part of the investigation.

The MDP protests have continued throughout Ramadan, with officials reporting that the demonstrations have caused noise disturbances and road closures affecting local businesses and residents.
