Rehendhi Award 2025 nomination deadline set for May 4

The Ministry of Social and Family Development has announced that applications for the Rehendhi Award, which recognises women’s contributions at the national level, will close on May 4, 2025, at 2:00 pm.

Nominations opened on February 18, and applications can be submitted through self-nomination, nomination by another person, or by Women's Development Committees (WDCs) and associations. The award category for WDCs is open to those established under the Decentralisation Act.

The Rehendhi Award honours individuals and committees based on their contributions in several key areas, including:

• Advising island or city councils on development initiatives and public services

• Addressing challenges faced by women and incorporating women’s empowerment initiatives into council development plans

• Protecting the rights of women and girls, raising awareness, and preventing gender-based violence

• Improving employment and business opportunities for women

• Increasing women’s participation in politics and underrepresented sectors

• Enhancing educational access and removing barriers for women and girls

• Improving the health and well-being of women and children through awareness and health initiatives

• Collecting and utilising key data on women's issues

The Ministry of Social and Family Development has advised applicants to email their completed forms along with all required documents. Additionally, physical submissions will be accepted at the Umar Zahir Office Building counter from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on working days.
