Road Development Corporation (RDC) and Fenaka Corporation have been awarded contracts to develop technical education facilities in northern Maldives.
The Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development awarded the contracts during a special ceremony in Malé with Minister Dr Ali Haidar Ahmed overseeing the proceedings.
RDC will build a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Centre and student dormitory in Kulhudhuffushi City while Fenaka will construct a student dormitory with training facilities in Raa Dhuvaafaru.
The Kulhudhuffushi facility, spanning 35,777 square feet, will include a multi-purpose workshop, seven classrooms, and an ICT laboratory. The complex will feature administrative offices, an auditorium, meeting rooms, study areas, and a library. The student dormitory will house 32 shared rooms along with dining facilities, laundry services, a gym, and recreational areas.
In Dhuvaafaru, the 15,000-square-foot development will contain 31 shared rooms with similar amenities for student accommodation and training.
These projects form part of the Government's broader initiative to expand higher education access throughout the Maldives. Similar developments are underway in Haa Alifu Dhidhdhoo, Raa Alifushi, and Noonu Velidhoo.
The Ministry emphasised that these facilities would support the growing demand for technical skills in the nation's developing industrial sectors while making higher education more accessible to citizens in remote islands.
