The ruling People's National Congress (PNC) has issued a warning to the public regarding unauthorised messages being circulated in the party’s name, urging caution against responding to such communications.

According to a statement from the party secretariat, reports have surfaced of individuals sending messages claiming to be gathering information on behalf of PNC. The party clarified that any legitimate requests for information, particularly from islands, would only be made through its steering committees, authorised officials, or designated official channels.

PNC emphasised that all official communication would use the party’s registered contact numbers and that no information would ever be requested through SMS. The party also assured its members that reports on such incidents would be submitted to the Maldives Police Service for further action.

Condemning what it described as "inappropriate conduct" for political purposes, the party strongly criticised those responsible for spreading unverified messages and called for an immediate end to such actions. PNC further advised its members and the public not to engage with these messages and to report any such incidents directly to the party’s official office.

Reaffirming its commitment to serving the nation with integrity, the party expressed confidence in the public’s cooperation in addressing the issue and ensuring that only verified information is shared through proper channels.
