President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has designated the official Dhivehi and English names for all inhabited islands, atolls, and atoll administrative codes in the Maldives.

The directive, published on the President’s Office website, is accessible to the public.

As outlined in Decree Number 2/2025 (Establishing Inhabited Islands in the Maldives), all official documents, publications, information management systems, databases, websites, and social media platforms must adhere to the specified names and codes.

This measure ensures uniformity in Governmental and public records while enhancing administrative efficiency. It also aims to maintain an accurate representation of Maldivian islands and atolls in both Dhivehi and English across official platforms.
