The Road Development Corporation (RDC) has been entrusted with the construction of a Dhamana Veshi in Kulhudhuffushi City, the first such facility to be developed outside Malé.
At a ceremony held at the Ministry of Health last night, State Minister Ismail Shareef signed the agreement on behalf of the Ministry, while Managing Director Brigadier General (Retd) Ali Zuhair represented RDC.
The project, which is set to be completed within one and a half years, has a total cost of MVR 23,113,061.08. The new two-storey facility will offer a range of essential health services currently provided by the Dhamana Veshi in Malé, improving healthcare accessibility for residents in the region.
According to the Health Ministry, the services at the new Dhamana Veshi will include vaccinations, child development monitoring, and a tobacco cessation programme. Additionally, the centre will conduct awareness programmes on various health issues, aimed at educating and supporting the local community.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, State Minister Ismail Shareef spoke of the importance of expanding healthcare infrastructure in the islands. He stated that the establishment of such facilities would significantly improve the quality and accessibility of medical services outside the capital.
