The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has reported a 19.3 per cent increase in property zakat al-mal collections during the first two months of the current fiscal year compared to the same period last year.

According to official data released by MIRA, a total of MVR 11,261,017 was collected as property zakat al-mal by the end of February, marking a notable rise from the MVR 9,435,528 recorded in February 2024.

A closer look at the monthly figures shows that MVR 5,321,081 was collected in January, reflecting a 48.5 per cent increase from the MVR 3,582,552 received in the same month the previous year. The upward trend continued in February, with contributions totalling MVR 5,939,935, further adding to the overall growth in collections.

According to MIRA’s data, the total amount of zakat al-mal collected up to 2024 has now reached MVR 101.9 million, representing a 12.9 per cent increase from the MVR 90.2 million collected in the previous fiscal year (FY23).
