The national airline, Maldivian, has launched direct flights between Hanimaadhoo and Bangalore.

The new route is set to commence in May, offering greater convenience for travellers from the northern atolls and boosting tourism from India.

Bookings for the new service are now open, with two weekly flights scheduled on Sundays and Thursdays.

Speaking about the new route, Maldivian’s Managing Director Ibrahim Iyas stated that the airline remains committed to connecting more Maldivian cities with international destinations.

The airline currently operates two weekly flights between Hanimaadhoo and Trivandrum, and the addition of Bangalore marks another step in its expansion strategy.

Maldivian has also strengthened its international operations this year with the introduction of its first wide-body Airbus A330-200, expanding flights to Beijing, Shanghai, and Chengdu in China. The airline is working to acquire another wide-body aircraft later this year, with plans to expand services to European destinations.
