The groundwork for the new Al-Madrasatul-Arabiyatul-Islamiya School has officially commenced, marking a significant milestone in the Government's education development initiatives.

This achievement follows a concerted effort by Ministry of Education to save MVR 80 million from the State budget and optimise the project’s costs.

Originally slated for construction on the old Jamaluddin School plot, the location of the new building was changed to Lot 386 at the request of parents by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu to ensure the school received a spacious and suitable site, aligning with the needs of the school community.

The Ministry of Education incorporated this project into the Government’s Haftha 14 roadmap, prompting revisions to the original design. Subsequent discussions with the initial contractor revealed budgetary concerns, leading to the termination of the previous contract.

The project was then awarded to Rashid Carpentry and Construction Private Limited on a design-and-build basis at a revised cost of MVR 152,945,200.65, with a completion timeline of 540 days.

The modernised design for the school includes 40 classrooms, an underground parking facility, and a turf ground. It also incorporates provisions for air conditioning and solar panel installations, demonstrating a commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency.

This new construction promises to offer a state-of-the-art learning environment for students, symbolising the Government’s dedication to improving educational infrastructure while maintaining fiscal responsibility. The school’s development reflects a strategic balance between cost-saving measures and delivering high-quality facilities for the nation's future generations.
