The Maldives Zakat House will start accepting Zakat in the form of grains on Saturday.

As in previous years, those wishing to pay Fitrah Zakat with grains can do so this year. The collection period runs from March 22 to March 27.

To fulfil Fitrah Zakat, each person must donate 2.4 kilograms of grain commonly consumed in their household.

Grain Zakat will be collected at the Salahuddin Hall of Majeediyya School. The following six types of grains are accepted: regular rice, Thai rice, Basmati rice, red rice, wheat flour and atta flour.

Zakat House will accept grain donations daily from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
