A special call centre has been established to report scam cases, as part of efforts by the Maldives Police Service to tackle the rising number of financial scams across the country.

The Anti-Scam Centre, set up under the Strategic Plan 2024-2028, was established in June 2024 to address increasing scam-related crimes.

The Commissioner of Police has now directed the centre to take all necessary measures to handle scam cases nationwide. Additionally, the centre will be responsible for coordinating transactions with other agencies to improve efficiency in scam investigations.

Under this initiative, the newly launched call centre will serve as the primary point of contact for scam reports. Once a case is reported, the Anti-Scam Centre will immediately take action and work with financial institutions to gather the necessary information for investigations.

The public can report scam cases through multiple channels, including:

• National Emergency Number: 911

• Anti-Scam Hotline: 125 (Extension 2020)

• Anti-Scam Centre Email: [email protected]

These services have been operational from Monday, both within the Maldives and internationally. Additionally, scam cases can be reported at police stations in Malé and across the atolls.

The Maldives Police Service has urged the public to immediately report scam cases in order to prevent further incidents. The police also expressed their appreciation for the public's continued cooperation in the ongoing efforts to combat financial fraud.
