The Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources has opened applications for the Marine Hatchery Skills Development Programme, an initiative aimed at teaching reef fish farming, hatchery, and aquaculture skills in the Maldives.
The programme will be conducted in collaboration with the Maldives Marine Research Institute (MMRI) and will take place at Kaafu Maniyaafushi.
Scheduled to run from April 26 to May 8, 2025, the training will provide hands-on experience in hatchery setup and sustainable fish farming techniques.
To support participants, the Government will cover all costs related to food, accommodation in Maniyaafushi, and travel expenses.
The programme is open to applicants, with only 15 slots available. Interested candidates must submit their applications by 2:00 p.m. on April 15, 2025, along with a copy of their ID card, to the Maldives Marine Research Institute.
This initiative has been successfully conducted in previous years, with 15 participants per session. Held twice a year, it continues to provide opportunities for individuals to develop expertise in sustainable fisheries and marine resource management.
