The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has extended the deadline for submitting complaints regarding the flat list under the Gedhoruveriya housing scheme to April 15, 2025.
In a Gazette publication, the Ministry confirmed the extension, explaining it followed the review of initial complaints and that they are working to address issues raised and correct any discrepancies in the list.
The list of beneficiaries, released on February 27, 2025, showed that 1,820 out of 4,939 applicants were eligible for flats under the scheme. The remaining applicants were removed due to non-compliance, including 424 whose eligibility points had changed.
Minister Abdullah Muththalib explained that many applicants submitted incorrect or incomplete documents, including council forms stating they did not reside on the island. Those affected can now submit updated documentation through the designated portal during the extended period.
The Ministry assured that the process of handing over flats to eligible beneficiaries would proceed as planned.
