147 theft cases reported in first 10 days of Ramadan

Maldives Police Service recorded 147 theft cases during the first 10 days of Ramadan, according to official statistics.

The figures, published as part of the Ramadan 1446 crime report, highlight a significant number of criminal incidents during the holy month's initial period.

Traffic accidents topped the list with 153 cases reported during the same period. Other reported incidents included 19 domestic violence cases, 16 child abuse cases and 15 sexual harassment cases. Police also recorded 110 drug-related cases and investigated eight robbery cases.

Scam cases remained prevalent, with 70 reported during the first 10 days of Ramadan, alongside seven cybercrime cases.

Overall, police statistics show 692 incidents occurred during the period, resulting in 148 arrests for various offenses.
