The Ministry of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works has begun the process of handing over ferry terminals developed in Haa Alifu, Haa Dhaalu, and Shaviyani Atoll under the Integrated National Public Ferry Network project.

As part of this effort, the Ministry held an online meeting on Wednesday afternoon to discuss the agreement between the Ministry and island councils regarding the transfer of ferry terminals and designated ferry spots.

The meeting was attended by representatives from Shaviyani, Haa Alifu, and Haa Dhaalu Atoll Councils, which fall under Raajje Transport Link (RTL) Zone 1. Minister Adam Shareef Umar, State Ministers, and senior officials from the Ministry also participated in the discussions.

During the meeting, Minister Adam Shareef Umar addressed questions raised by the councils, clarifying key aspects of the agreement and the upcoming transition process.

The agreements have been sent to the respective councils, and the Ministry anticipates that they will be signed soon, paving the way for the commencement of ferry services in these atolls.
