Marking the commencement of the sacred final ten days of Ramadan, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended his heartfelt greetings to the people of the Maldives.
In a statement shared on X this evening, President Dr Muizzu extended his congratulations to the nation and offered prayers for the blessings of Laylat-ul-Qadr, a night of profound spiritual significance in Islam. He expressed his hope that these sacred nights bring peace, prosperity, and divine grace to all.
The last ten days of Ramadan hold particular reverence in Islamic tradition, as they encompass Laylat-ul-Qadr, regarded as the most blessed night of the month. While the precise date of this night remains unknown, the teachings of the Prophet Mohamed (peace and blessings be upon him) indicate that it occurs on one of the odd-numbered nights within this period. Devout Muslims dedicate these days to intensified worship, reflection, and seeking divine forgiveness.
Recognising the spiritual importance of this period, President Dr Muizzu has declared the final ten days of Ramadan as public holidays. According to the Government, this decision has been taken to enable citizens to devote more time to worship and religious observance during these sacred nights.
